Hallstatt Ticket Prices 2026: Salt Mine, Skywalk, Boat, Bone House and What Tours Include
The village costs nothing to enter, and every Hallstatt tickets is a price for a door inside it, not for Hallstatt itself. Here is every official price for 2026, what each tour's fare covers, and what a day costs once you are there.
Is Hallstatt free to enter?
Yes. Hallstatt is a village of about 740 people, with no gate, no ticket and no opening hours. You can walk the lakeshore, the square and the lanes at any hour for nothing.
What you pay for are the sights inside and above it: the salt mine, the funicular to the platform, the boat, the charnel house and the museum. No tour fare covers any of them, with one exception: the boat on one Vienna day, in season.
What does the salt mine ticket cost?
The Hallstatt Salt Mine sells one combined ticket that covers the funicular up and down and the mine itself: €49 for adults and €23 for children from 4 to 15. Children under 4 cannot go in.
In 2026 it runs daily from 09:30 to 16:30 until 24 October, and from 09:30 to 15:00 between 25 October and 6 January 2027. The last ascent is 30 minutes before the last tour. Salzwelten does not publish the tour's length, so allow half a day for the mine and the platform.
What do the funicular and the Skywalk cost?
The rebuilt funicular reopened on 29 August 2026. A return ride costs €29 for adults and €14 for children from 4 to 15. It runs from 09:00 to 18:00 until 24 October, and from 09:00 to 16:30 from 25 October to 6 January.
The World Heritage Skywalk, the platform at the top station, has no ticket of its own: the funicular fare is the price. The footpath up is closed for building work, so you cannot walk instead. If you plan to do the mine, the combined ticket already covers the ride.
What do the lake boat and the station ferry cost?
Two boats run from the village. The lake boat makes a round trip from the Markt landing to Obertraun and back, about 50 minutes, for €18 for adults and €12 for children from 4 to 13. In season, from the end of May to September, it leaves at 11:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00.
The Stefanie ferry links the village with the railway station across the lake, all year, to meet the trains. It costs €4 one way and €8 return.
What do the charnel house and the museum cost?
The Bone House, the charnel house beside the Catholic church, costs €2 for adults and €0.50 for children. It holds over 600 painted skulls. It opens daily from 10:00 to 18:00 from June to September, 10:00 to 17:00 in October, 11:30 to 15:30 in April and May, and Wednesday to Sunday from 11:30 to 15:30 between November and March.
Museum Hallstatt, on Seestraße, costs €12 for adults, €11 for over-60s, €8 for children from 6 to 14, and €25 for a family. It opens from 10:00 to 18:00 from May to September, with shorter hours the rest of the year, and the last entry is an hour before closing.

What does parking cost?
If you drive, you park in the P1, P2 or P3 car parks outside the centre, which is closed to visitors' cars. The first 15 minutes are free, and after that you pay by the hour. The day rates published in different places disagree, so check the machine when you arrive.
Coaches pay too: €126 for a slot from May 2026. That cost sits inside your tour fare.
What does each tour's fare include?
The fare buys the transport and the time, and on some days a guide. It never buys the salt mine, and it buys the funicular only as an option on some Vienna days. Here is what each fare adds, and what you still pay on the spot.

What does a day cost, tour by tour?
A fare and the doors you use make the real price. Some typical days:
- The cheapest Vienna day: $62 without the Skywalk option, plus €2 for the charnel house. The walk and 2.5 hours free leave no time for the mountain unless you book the option.
- The Vienna boat day: $111, with the boat in the fare from April to October. Add €2 if you want the charnel house in summer; in winter it is in the fare.
- The half day from Salzburg: $96, plus €29 if you spend an hour of your 2.5 on the platform.
- The private car from Salzburg, four of you: $133 each, plus €49 each if you use your four hours for the mine.
- A private walk: $299 for the group, plus €12 each if you go into the museum afterwards.
Are there family and child prices?
Yes, at every door. The mine and the funicular charge less for children from 4 to 15, and the boat for children from 4 to 13. The charnel house charges €0.50 a child, and the museum sells a €25 family ticket.
The tours are different: most price children as adults, and some refuse under-3s or under-4s. Check the card before you book. Our comparison of the tours lists the age limits.
Do you need cash or a card?
Carry both. Travellers on several tours advise bringing euros for the small doors, cafés and toilets, and some small places may prefer cash. Treat that as travellers' advice rather than a rule, and have a card as well.
The tour fares themselves are paid when you book, and each tour listed here refunds in full up to 24 hours before it starts. See the things to do in the village page for each sight in more detail, and the winter guide for the winter hours.
